Ongoing project: Hairy and ExtraOrdinary explores identity and the relationship with our own bodies, how much from what we do to our bodies is choice and how much is social construct. For a long time Veronika has been questioning her own body hair and what it means to her. From being bullied, feeling disgusted, ashamed, unsexy, dirty, wrong to feeling more accepting, real, soft, Veronika has documented her journey growing her body hair and gathering lots of positive but also less positive responses from viewers about female body hair. Hairy and ExtraOrdinary has been part of STARE, an exploration of female body hair exhibition at ONCA Gallery in Brighton, 15-19 May 2019.
If you are a person experiencing or have experienced a difficult relationship with your body hair, please get in touch and be part of the series. You can't be what you can't see, said Marian Wright.
